Students work together to inspire philanthropy within their schools
Babson Students Complete Mask Venture to Benefit the Foundation
The Corey C. Griffin Foundation recently worked with a group of Babson students who ran a business venture as part of a Babson-funded Foundation of Management & Entrepreneurship course. The group of mostly freshman wanted to create a product that not only met the needs of their primary target market (Babson students) but also fulfilled a social service via a donation of profits. They decided to partner with the foundation due to the familiarity of the foundation and logo around the Babson campus, as well as their knowledge of services the foundation provides for kids in need.
The student group created a mask with the Corey C. Griffin Foundation logo and sold it to their peers. Team roles were assumed, such as: head of finance, head of strategy, head of operations, and head of human resources.
Team leader Ike Kiely said of the experience, “Partnering with the Corey C. Griffin Foundation has given us the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship in a realistic setting while also bringing value to a deserving foundation that holds a special place in our hearts as Babson students.”
Thayer Academy Senior Project
Three Thayer Academy senior hockey players are working together on a senior project benefiting the Corey C. Griffin Foundation. Christian (CJ) Monturio, and brothers Joseph and Peter Kramer have planned fundraising initiatives including a 3v3 hockey tournament, school dress down day, and a food drive, among other efforts.
Corey Griffin was a graduate of Thayer Academy in Braintree, where he was an accomplished varsity hockey player. “We’re all very familiar with the foundation because Corey went to our school, and a board member visits and speaks to our team annually,” said Monturio. “We thought our senior project would be a good opportunity to keep Corey’s name alive both at Thayer and within the close-knit hockey community.”
Joseph and Peter Kramer are headed to Providence College next year to continue their hockey careers. CJ will be playing lacrosse for Army West Point.
