On Wednesday, August 27th, The Corey C. Griffin Foundation held its annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway in Dorchester. The event is the largest of its kind in the Boston area, helping thousands of local students start the school year with the supplies they need to succeed. This year, we distributed over 4,000 backpacks to Corey’s Kids across Boston and beyond. The event was packed with music, food, games, face-painting and so much more. It was great to see all the smiles, a perfect reflection of Corey’s spirit and legacy.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and volunteered. And a special thanks to our partners Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy Lower Mills, MAMLEO Inc., former Patriot Mathew Slater and our key sponsors: New Balance, BJ’s Wholesale Club and Staples.
The Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway effort is just one part of our broader mission to invest in Boston’s youth by funding partnerships with leading academic and healthcare institutions, enrichment programs, and non-profit organizations that support and empower children in underserved communities.
“It was a beautiful day. There was so much energy and excitement for the start of the school year. Each of these kids knows they are supported, believed in, and equipped to step into a new school year with confidence,” said Chandra Clark, President of the Corey C. Griffin Foundation.
