On May 28th, more than 275 students in grades K–3 from the Lower Mills, Neponset, and Columbia campuses of Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy gathered at Dorchester Park for the Corey C. Griffin Foundation’s largest Field Day yet — a day filled with joy, community, and connection.
The Foundation proudly sponsors this beloved end-of-year tradition, covering t-shirts, games, food, and drinks for every student. With the help of more than 60 volunteers — including Foundation staff, the Griffin family, and local high school students — the park came alive with laughter, teamwork, and celebration.
The majority of volunteers came from three key groups: our Emerging Leaders Council, Team CCGF marathon runners, and Corey’s Crew, our dedicated volunteer team. All of the kids participated in the same games and activities, which were spread across approximately 30 different stations.
Kids rotated through kickball, soccer, sack races, t-ball, and tug-of-war. Younger students played in the bounce house or chased bubbles under the sun. Everywhere you looked, someone was cheering, laughing, or lending a hand.
Sal’s Pizza generously provided lunch, and the Boston Police Department surprised everyone with free ice cream through Operation Hoodsie Cup. The Massachusetts State Police Cadets joined in, helping lead games and connecting with students throughout the morning.
“Field Day is more than just a fun event — it reflects the heart of the Corey C. Griffin Foundation’s mission: to uplift Corey’s Kids through mentorship, opportunity, and long-term partnerships rooted in care. It’s a day our students look forward to — and one that reminds us of the impact we can make when we show up together. As we concluded the day, a vibrant rainbow filled the sky. It was a beautiful reminder of Corey’s spirit surrounding us on a day filled with so much love and cheer,” said Chandra Clark, President of the Corey C. Griffin Foundation.
